UD Almeria sack Luis Miguel Ramis after no win in eight
President of UD Almeria Alfonso Garcia met with his director of football Miguel Angel Corona, vice president’s Alfonso Garcia Pinero & Pepe Bonillo yesterday to discuss the poor form of the club and situation of head coach Luis Ramis.
An agreement by all parties see the end of Ramis reign in Almeria, the Tarragona born coach came to the club last season again in times of turmoil, but at that point, he was the saviour picking up 22 points in the final 13 games to ensure survival in the second division.
The Rojiblanocs form has been very poor of late, the squad looking like they have no idea on what is going on, tactics are not working and heads are down. Without a win in eight games, the axe was due to drop, and in the modern game, it is the head coach who is in the firing line.
Almeria welcome Real Zaragoza to the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos this Friday and three points need to be taken from this game to break the bad run of form.
Fran Fernandez will take control of the first team whilst steps are taken to find a long-term replacement for Ramis, the next appointment will be the 14th since 2010, which is an incredible statistic.
The club now needs stability moving forward, yes, the president is looking to move on but he still has the clubs interests at heart.
A long-term managerial appointment with a plan in mind to get the club back into the top flight is what is required, ok it may seem a long shot at this moment in time, but in life you need to set targets and in the second division, the target should be to make it to the first.
