Sport in Almeria means more than football and the region of Almeria has an abundance of sports clubs & associations that you may never have known existed, all of which would be happy for you to get involved.
I imagine you would know that Almería hosted the Mediterranean Games in 2005. The city also has two football teams: UD Almería, which plays in the Spanish Segunda División and CP Almería who play in a regional division (Division de Honor Andalusia).
Union Deportiva Almeria currently play in the second tier of the Spanish football pyramid, they formedon the 26th July 1989 after Almeria CF went out of business due to financial problems.
The club plays its home games at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos which holds 15,200.
Known as La Union or Rojiblancos (Red & Whites) play in Red & Whites stripped shirts, Red shorts and White socks have never won a major trophy, but have reached the Copa del Rey Semi Finals in 2011 only to be beaten by FC Barcelona.

Union Rugby Almeria currently plays within the División de Honor B Grupo C of the Federacion de Rugby Espanola.
An initial Union between Club de Rugby Costa Almeria (Founded in 1995) and El Ejido Rugby which began in 2003 has now grown into a larger project that includes players from the whole region of Almeria who wish to play the game of rugby.
The club has Senior, Veteran,Youth and Female sides that compete within the Spanish Rugby Union .
The club plays & trains at the Estadio Municipal JUAN ROJAS, Almeria, they also run schools for children wishing to learn the game.
Club Voleibol Almería, also known for sponsorship reasons as Unicaja Almería, is a professional volleyball team based in Almeria, Spain. It plays in the top flight of Spanish volleyball, Superliga.
The club has had success in bucket loads, which regularly see’s the benches packed for home games that Pabellón Moisés Ruiz, which holds 1,200.
