Pulpi Part Company with Coach
News today is that Manu Guil has had his contract terminated by the Andaluz club after a 1-0 home defeat to local rivals Huercal-Overa at the weekend. Guil previously with Garrucha and Huercal-Overa was in his second season at the Estadio San Miguel after leading his Atletico Pulpileno side to promotion last year.
This season back in the Tercera has been testing to say the least, the team moving in and out no less than 16 players since preseason; it is easy to see why the results haven’t fallen for the Pulpi outfit. But speaking last week Guil was happy at the direction of the team, feeling the group were coming together plus the coup signing of Mansour from La Hoya Lorca gave the fans something to be positive about.
But, the final nail in the coffin was last Sundays defeat to a local rival who played 60 minutes with only 10 men after Selu saw red from a terrible refereeing decision. With less than 20 minutes left to play Moreno headed home to the joy of the travelling fans.
It is not clear who will be in charge this weekend when Pulpi face a stern test away to newly formed Neuva Vanguardia but the club and squad need to shape up soon or a relegation battle will be on the cards.
