Lorca FC secured promotion to the second tier of Spanish football on Saturday afternoon after a tense 0-0 draw at the Estadio Francisco Artés Carrasco.

The party went into the early hours of the morning as the fans, players and staff celebrated the return of a Lorca football team to the professional level of Spanish football.

A hard-fought out 1-1 draw at Albacete in the first leg meant that a clean sheet would guarantee promotion to La Liga123. The Blue & Whites did not make it easy on themselves, an Abel Gomez penalty in the first half would have given some breathing space, but Tomeu Nadal stopped the spot kick to the delight of the 2,500 travelling fans from Albacete.

After the break, the visitors looked to come out the stronger of the two teams pushing forward at every opportunity, but former Albacete goalkeeper Dorronsoro kept them from breaking the deadlock. However, it was a solid effort from the whole Lorca side especially the back line with the experience of ex Chile international center half Jose Rojas marshaling his troops they were able to see out the game and a spot in the Segunda A division next season.
