La Liga Friday Preview MD1
Friday 19th August
Malaga Vs Osasuna – 20:45 – (BEIN, GOL, Sky Sports 2 red button)
Osasuna return to the top flight after two years and face the long trip to Malaga, the Pamplona outfit have only 2 foreign players but also have the lowest market value in the league. So not surprise the bookies have them to struggle this year even after re-enforcing with 7 new signings. Los Rojillos under Enrique Martin are still looking to strengthen ahead of the transfer deadline, but with lack of investment in the club surely only loan signings look possible.
Bet365 have them at 1500/1 to win the league, but a more likely outcome is relegation at 10/11.
Malaga on the other hand had a great season last time out achieving Europa League qualification; they also welcome well respected manager Juande Ramos to the club who they hope can push them onto the next level. Los Boquerones have managed to bring in young Spanish striker Sandro Ramirez from Barcelona on a Free Transfer (Ramirez is a current U21 Spain Int, and has found the back of the net for the U17, U18 & U19 National sides). Also splashing out £4.25 mil on right sided attacker Keko from SD Eibar, Keko had a solid season last year for Eibars first time in the top flight running out 29 times in the league and 3 cup appearances, bagging 3 goals and 5 assists in the process.
You can get 500/1 on them winning La Liga, or the better bet would be finish top 4 at 16/1…
Deportiva La Coruna Vs Eibar – 22:00 – (BEIN LaLiga, Sky Sports red button)
The days of Depor finishing in the top half of the table have long gone, 6 years ago in fact and within the time frame they have dropped out of the top flight on 2 occasions. Granted they bounced back at the first time of asking on in both seasons but the locals have become frustrated and want the club to push to bigger things like being back in the European competitions. Could be a stretch… You can get 40/1 on a top 4 finish for the blue and whites or 11/2 for the relegation.
Everyone at Eibar can be proud of the first season in the top flight, solid home form consisting of 8 wins and 5 draws ensured a safe mid-table position. Could this be a second season stutter for the Eibar minnows? We certainly hope not, the strides the club has made have been immense and to see it washed away after only one season would be hard to come back from. But with no less than 13 additions to the squad including Alejandro Galvez who returns to Spain from a spell at Werder Bremen and Florian Lejeune from Man City strengthening the central defensive spots, plus some attacking flair from Bebe brought in from Benfica the locals can have hope for a positive season.
Bet365 have them at 1500/1 to win the league but a more likely return would be 5/2 for relegation.
