Champions League Final Head to Head

Cristiano Ronaldo is making some big boasts before Real Madrid face Liverpool in the Champions League final in Kiev, Ukraine on Saturday.

Boasting & Cristiano Ronaldo are as natural as bread & butter or Batman & Robin or Jurgen Klopp & hugs. So it is no surprise that the Portuguese star is blowing his own trumpet ahead of facing Liverpool in the European Cup final on Saturday.

Even though he’s now getting on (in football terms) at the age of 33, he claims he has the ‘biological age of 23’. Yeah, I don’t know what that means either.

I’m guessing he is saying that he has the body of a man ten years his junior. But which 23-year-old. I was a pretty average 23-year-old male and if he has the same body as me then Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to have the easiest day of his life.

Is he comparing his fitness now to when he was 23? Because that is patently false. He is more ripped and toned and highly sharpened but he does not have the electric pace of his younger self. He is still no slouch – and can hurt you in numerous ways –  but nobody in the Liverpool camp is worried about Ronaldo’s speed.

Salah has it to come

The striker has gained cult status in Egypt and his hard-earned success and modesty is the talk of the town.

This is clearly a period of transition for Egyptian football and what better time to make it to the biggest football extravaganza than when your ace player has attained global recognition.

Salah has been in the form of his life for Liverpool this season, scoring 44 goals in all competitions. The 25-year-old has walked away with the PFA Player of the Year, as well as the Writer’s Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Year honours. He was also awarded the Golden Boot after breaking the record for most English Premier League goals scored in a single season. And all this in his first year at Anfield, after moving from Roma for £37 million in the summer.

The biggest accolade of all awaits him come May 26 when Liverpool meet Real Madrid in the final of the Uefa Champions League. If he can get the Reds across the line in that tie, he’ll surely have written his name in golden letters at Anfield.

Real Madrid has already expressed their desire to have Salah on board and he has been heavily linked with a move. Spanish publications have claimed that Salah has been told the club are already looking for a house for his family.
