Over the previous few transfer windows, the subject of a Hector Bellerin move back to Barcelona has been on many people’s lips, now, it seems it could be happening.
Spain’s under 21 squad is away at the European Championships in Poland where media attention is high, so naturally speculation is rife about potential transfers this summer.
Last Wednesday Denis Suarez of Barcelona spoke about his friend Bellerin, “I have spoken with Bellerin and on the one hand he wants to come to Barca and on the other he feels tied to the Arsenal. I wish he could come.” Suarez told Mundo Deportivo.
As a former student at the Barca academy “La Masia” the wing back is no stranger to the Catalan capital, but with his big break into the game under Arsene Wenger, talk of a move will be tough.
Currently valued at £21m by the football data site Transfermarkt.co.uk, reports suggest that an offer of £40m would be required to pry him away from North London.
Still only 22 years old, with a bright future ahead of him, there is no reason why “The Gunner’s” would want to sell, but without Champions League football next season, the writing could be on the wall for Arsenal fans.
