Huercal-Overa Slump to Defeat

Huercal Overa Team Pic Vs Pinatar
Back Row: Isma, Alex, Carmona, Miras, Ferri Front Row: Selu, Linares, Juli, Pedro Lloris (c), Raul Ramos, Pardo

With Huercal-Overa taking only 3pts from the last 15 on offer and more notably only bagging 3 goals in that period it is clear to see where the squad needs strengthening from the fans perspective. With only Tabala giving any threat to the opposition defences there is no doubt that this is an area that must be enhanced, young local lad Ferri led the line against FC Pinatar at the weekend but didn’t really make any huge contribution but is certainly one for the future.

The game kicked off with Pinatar sitting second bottom of the league after scoring 20 and conceding 39 in the previous 17 games, so the home crowd had envisaged a victory for Los Rojos. This assumption was quickly dispelled as the home side struggled to get any grip of the game at all, with the visitors getting first to every ball and with a slicker, quicker passing movement.

It was in the 28th minute when Miras jumped with Javi Rodriguez in an innocuous aerial challenge but the the visitors player fell badly and swallowed his tongue, both sets of physio’s were quick to the scene and luckily a doctor was in the crowd to help with the FC Pinatar players situation. The game was halted for 15 minutes while an ambulance took Javi to hospital where he did make a recovery. A standing ovation saw the ambulance leave the stadium in an emotional moment for the players and fans alike.

From this moment on the visiting side had the upper hand as Patricio scored the opener on 36 minutes after sliding the ball past Isma,  the young keeper didn’t have much of a chance as the winger was let go by the normally solid Huercal-Overa back line after coming on for the injured Javi.

Huercal-Overa head coach Juanma made a change at half time introducing top scorer Tabala (5) in place of Pardo with a hope of getting back on level terms, ultimately ending a run of bad form leading back to November. Sadly this didn’t have the desired effect and the Pinatar extended their lead when Coke fired home on 84mins to make it 2-0 to a side who had only won 3 times this season. Tabala got a conciliation goal back for Los Rojos but nothing could prevent the away side taking all 3pts.

Back to the drawing board for Juanma and his team who travel to Plus Ultra this next weekend.
